Hello dear folks! How are you doing this Monday morning?
After the coldest spring in recorded HISTORY, Washington finally got summer this weekend!!! WOOHOOHOO!!! I’m still basking in the bliss of going barefoot and getting a sunburned nose from snoozing in the backyard.
I wasn’t well this weekend, but I got to rest, really rest, and I’m so grateful for it.
I napped on the grass and in the house.
Read cookbooks and listened to Jeeves and Wooster.
Ate blueberries and buttery toast.
I loved it.
And then, when migraines eased up a bit, I strolled about the backyard capturing photos of cheery blossoms and humming bees and waddling puppies and snowball trees and delicate ferns. It’s amazing how much beauty can be found in one back yard with a blazing sun to highlight each detail.
I’m so glad I have these pictures to cheer me when the rains return.
What are your favorite memories from your weekend?
xo
Wow! how lucky you are to have such gorgeous images in your back garden!! I envy you ๐
My memories of this weekend were just feeling the sun on my face, the sand between my toes, and the
sound of crashing waves in my ears.
Have a lovely week sweetheart!
Aren’t they wonderful, Vanessa?! I can’t take credit for them – since they’re in my friends backyard – but I sure love them. ๐ Your weekend sounds PERFECT!!!
nothing better than barefoot summers ๐ย
You said it, Brenna! Love getting home after work and kicking off my shoes for the whole day!!!! ๐
It seems L.A. is now getting all that cold- it was chilly this weekend… I had to wear a jacket! But it’s okay because I know come August it will beย 100 degrees again and I’ll want to die!
How crazy, Jade!! We must’ve swapped weather for a few days. ๐
I attended an event along the lakeshore. The sun was shining and everyone was smiling. A perfect day. I am glad you had a comforting weekend!!
That sounds lovely, Val! So glad you had such a nice time. ๐
Hi Krista, so glad to hear that your are feeling better and decided not to let that jerk ruin your life. So here’s to you and your courage! Have a wonderful week with lots of sunshine. ๐
Thank you SO much, dear Karen. ๐ I’m glad too. It feels so much better fighting back and not cowering in fear. ๐
blueberries and sunshine…..what better?! ย glad you’re on the mend. ย one step after the other……..hugs!
Aren’t they the perfect combination, Paradis! ๐ Thanks so much for the hugs. ๐
Happy Summer lovely!ย What beautiful pics. Did you get a new camera?
Thanks, Andi! Nope, my same ol’ little one, but actually having sunshine makes a huge difference for lighting! ๐
That’s too bad that you were unwell.ย It sounds like you’ve recovered a bit.ย The pics are lovely though I was so hoping for a fern shot.ย I really like ferns. When I was a child in New England we lived near a large forest that had tall trees and huge ferns that seem enchanted.ย My heart would always race with excitement there and I felt like I’d entered a magical place.ย Your backyard sounds that way right now.
I will have fern pictures for you soon, Stevie!! I took some of those this weekend too. ๐ I think they’re magical too. ๐
I love the Bible verse… He gives us beauty for ashes… Your photos have a way of cheering… they are always loaded with beauty!
My favourite weekend memories are the things I don’t always have ‘time’ for during the week… a walk on the trails with my husband of 34 years (this May 29th), a sleep in (til 7), a hot cup of milk and a croissant with my beloved, time to scratch my dogs’ ears and bellies, time to sit with the cat curled up on the knee, Some fun farm task together with my man, a bike ride to the Willow, a walk with my camera…Time late at night(very late) to look up at the stars and have those very special talks with my Abba Father as I walk in the freshness of the night… last night there was still a yellow glow all along the silouetted treeline and the black sky melting into this was actually a star studded deep blue!ย I love walking in this beauty and hearing the sound of the horses munching their hay and the goats sending out the occasionalย baa . In the distance the train whistle sings along with the coyotes echoed with the call of the owl….
Oh wow, that just sounds PERFECT, dear fisherlady! Your words are so picturesque and have given me a huge smile. ๐ Thank you!
Your weekend sounds and looks lovely! ย I’m glad you took the time to rest and enjoy the beauty.
Thank you, Erin! It’s amazing how hard it is to give ourselves permission to rest. I’m so glad I finally did. ๐
I love the bold happy colours in these photos! They certainly brighten up a cold and miserable winter’s day here.
Me too, Corinne!! They made me grin so big when I saw them. ๐ I’m so glad they brightened your day. ๐
Happy Spring … Relax and enjoy !!!
Happy Spring to you too, Isabelle!!! ๐
Yay for a sunny, beautiful weekend!ย Lovely pictures, Krista…theyย are sure to brighten up anyย day!
Yay indeed, dear Faith! ๐
Good to see you enjoying your weekend Krista. A blissful garden.
Isn’t it lovely, Barbara? I’m so glad to be living here for a while until I get settled. ๐
I’m a little late in catching up on my fave bloggie buddies this week, somehow the week has gone & I’m looking down the barrel of 3 glorious days off work – yep, its a long weekend in Oz. ย I’m seriously jealous with your sunshine & nose blisters girl ๐
Hooray for a long weekend, Anna! So happy for you and all my Oz friends to get a nice, long break. ๐ Hope you get some sunshine too! ๐
