Hi lovelies! I know I promised you mountain adventures yesterday, but the piles of boxes in the living room needed my immediate attention. Thanks to my friend Cameron they are now GONE, whisked away to thrift store, dump, and friends’ homes where they belong. What utter relief to have that done!!!
Now at last I can sit down and write to you dear folks. ๐
After our jolly hike on crutches along the gorgeously raging Nooksack River, my friend Jenny and I drove high up into the mountains. It was a blazing hot day but, much to our delight, there was snow everywhere!!!
We opened our windows, breathing deeply of the amazingly fresh air filled with the scent of melting snow and pine trees. When we spotted sledders shrieking down the mountain side, we decided that was the perfect spot to pull over for a spot of lunch.
Jenny had made us scrumptious sandwiches of sun-dried tomato turkey with cheese and Dijon mustard, and we happily munched our way through them and a few handfuls of sugar snap peas. The sun felt so good and it was such fun watching the folks hollering and laughing their way down the mountain before rolling off their sleds and trudging back up the hill for another go.
Although I’d been brave enough to hike in my crutches, even I was not crazy enough to attempt navigating snow. But there was no way Jenny could be that close to snow and not at least touch it – even if she was in flip-flops! So off she went, skidding and sliding her way across the drifts, returning a bit later bearing a snowball for me so I could enjoy a bit of the cold stuff too. ๐
Tomorrow I’ll show you pictures (and video!) from the oh-so-beautiful Nooksack Falls.
Where do you like to go adventuring when you have a free day?
Stunning. Looking forward to the video too.ย
Thank you, BakerStreet! ๐ You won’t believe how loud the water is! ๐
Sunbathing in the snow don’t you just love it ๐ ย In your own words ‘ย What an absolute haven of peace and beauty to restore you in body and spirit.’ ย , thanks for such a lovely comment.
I DO love it, dear Linda. ๐ And you are most welcome. I meant every word. ๐

I sure am, Soron! Should be there second week of October at the latest. ๐
I love in the moyntains surrounded by lakjes and warm sunny beaches. Most often you will find me at “my” beach with a good bookย but you might also find me wandering around a vineyard orย on a mountain treck.ย
Ohhhh, all of those sound perfectly wonderful, Val. ๐ You live in such a gorgeous part of the world. ๐
You have the gift for making all things enjoyable. This sounds like a wonderful way to spend the day. I hope that foot is better soon. Blessings…Mary
Thank you, dear Mary. ๐ My foot is a little better today. Hopefully by next week it will be much better. ๐
you crazy life-loving girl you! ย it is amazing – the idea of sledding in july!
Isn’t that crazy, Paradis! I was so shocked to see it when I was in a sundress and sandals! ๐
Oh Krista, today my daughter and Iย rode bare back on our two big ponies on a trail that follows the Willow downstream… it took hours and we covered so much amazing ground that for a while I thought there was no place more beautiful in the whole world… it seems this happens a lot no matter where I am. I always find so much beauty everywhere! Still, it was an amazing adventure with my daughter, and the ponies were as joyous as we were to be out and about… I have skied in August sunshine on Mt Baker so I understand your joy with this post! So much fun! Hope your throw those crutches away soon ๐
What a great way to spend the day! That place is so beautiful.
Cheers,
Rosa
Snowballs in summer! How fun! I am jealous! What a treat… a mountain secret.
Oh wow, if I close my eyes and breathe deeply, I can almost smell that fresh mountain air!ย What gorgeous pictures, Krista!ย It looks like you girls had so much fun…and I would have been tempted to grab a handful of the snow too, lol!
