I have come to love chilly evenings in Amsterdam.
For I know that when my bro and sis-in-law get home from work we will get cozy in our pjs, bring coffees, wine, and nibbles up to the terrace, and snuggle under blankets on the comfy couches set around the outdoor fireplace.
It is truly a happy place for me, one of peaceful reflection, hearty laughter, and the best of memories with people I love to bits.
This weekend we got to share it with dear friends – a couple of jolly British expats living in Amsterdam, folks from Bulgaria and Holland, and an American friend who flew in from Tanzania. It was so wonderful to sit around for hours swapping stories over glasses of Italian wine and German beer, hearing all sorts of marvelous adventures and hilarious tales.
I love this place, these people. And I wish I could bring you all over to join us on these beautiful nights.
And now, dear ones, I must dash and start packing. Tonight I fly to Prague to visit my dear friend Corrie who is in Europe for a few weeks. I can’t wait to hug her tight and talk like mad for the next few days. 🙂
Where is your happy place this week?
Such warm memories Krista!
They sure are, dear Val. 🙂 It makes me smile just thinking of them. 🙂
Oh to be cozied up with a blanket by a warm fire…it will be 98 degrees today! My happy place is in thoughts of my upcoming trip to San Diego where it is nice and cool :-). Can’t wait to hear about your trip to Prague! Safe travels.
Oh my goodness, Debi – 98!!! I can’t imagine. 🙂 A trip to San Diego is pure happiness! 🙂

Oh, we’re going to be so close to each other then! I’ll let you know soon when you can come to visit. Sorry it take so long! Enjoy Prague!
Thank you, dear Zita! No worries at all, my friend. 🙂 Hope you have a great and SAFE trip to London, and we will meet up very soon. 🙂
Cozy indeed! There’s nothing better than to spend an evening with friends, in front of a fire.
Cheers,
Rosa
I agree, Rosa. I think it’s one of my favorite things in this world to do. 🙂
Krista, first off your new haircut is GORGEOUS! And I so enjoy all the beautiful pictures from Holland. I feel like I’m taking a mini vacation when I look through your blog. 🙂 It’s great to see you having so much fun! Enjoy Prague. 🙂
Thank you so much, Karen! 🙂 I’m so glad you like the pictures. I’m having such fun taking them! 🙂
So fun! I am hoping to hit Prague in November, any suggestions?
Oh that’s great, Ayngelina!! Yes – dress WARM!! Even while I’ve been here it’s been cold. 🙂 Wander a lot – there’s so much beauty in this place and you find it down tiny alleys and around sharp corners. Eat off the beaten track – it’s “real” instead of touristy. Buy pashminas in colors that make you happy. 🙂 Take public transport and people-watch. 🙂
I love cozy nights like this…they really make me long for fall! 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful time in Prague, Krista!
Mmm, me too, Faith! It makes this cold summer worth it for sure. 🙂
What a fun way to enjoy the cooler evenings!
Isn’t it wonderful, Linda?! I can’t wait to settle down in Australia so I can do something like this. 🙂
How fun! Have a wonderful time in Prague =)
Thank you, Andrea – it’s been WONDERFUL!! 🙂
Oh wow, have the best time in Prague, a place I’ve ALWAYS wanted to visit. And what a beautiful way to spend a chilly evening.
Thank you, dear Andi – I’ve loved it so much. 🙂
magic!
I agree, Lauryl! I feel like pinching myself to make sure it’s real. 🙂
That photo actually made me wish it wasn’t summer for a second. Have a safe trip!
That makes me smile, Susan. 🙂
Wow, I feel cozy just looking at these photos, too fun 🙂 Enjoy your travels in Prague Krista!
I’ll share the striped blanket with you, Tuula! 🙂 You’d love it up here.
These are just my favourite photos EVER on your blog!!
Ohhh, thank you, J!! Wish you were here to enjoy it with me. 🙂

Beautiful! Though I love traveling, my happy place this week is actually in my own backyard – LITERALLY! We just installed a fire pit and lately I love nothing more than sitting outside with a glass of wine and making s’mores.
~Sara
Ohhh, that sounds perfectly heavenly, Sara!!! That would make me ecstatic to stay home too. 🙂
This makes me long for Fall and Winter – I’m SO sick of the dog day heat of summer. Nothing like good friends, good food, good wine, and a cozy fire 🙂 Ob another note – I’ve never tried gooseberries..although I always associate it with another name for a Kiwi, but you are so lucky to have bushes of them! Any wild berry bush is heaven to me 🙂
Oh I can imagine, Lisa!! I haven’t actually had any dog days of summer yet. It seems my lot to go from fall to fall to fall in each country. 🙂 But I don’t mind so much. It’s very cozy and wonderful. 🙂
Your description and the photos make me wish, I were hiding in your pocket, enjoying this with you.
