I’m enamored by Autumn sunshine.
Is there anything more golden, rich, and warm? It doesn’t have the piercing brightness of Summer or the clear breeziness of Spring, no, it’s something different, something that sinks right down into your soul warming you from the inside out.
I’ve spent a lot of time on the back veranda today looking out at this scene while I sip my coffee, write in my journal, chat with Bear, or just rest.
One of my favorite things about our Aussie farm is how peaceful it is. It’s not a silent peace – that would be impossible with chickens clucking and the wind in the gum trees and goats bleating to each other out in the paddock – but it is a soothing peace, a natural one. No matter how crazy things get, I know my peace will always be restored if I can just get outside for a bit.
Especially in late afternoon when the animals are all tucked in for the night, happily snoozing in the last rays of sunshine.
The light is exquisite glimmering through waving gum trees, the warmth caressing as the winds die down and the countryside seems to settle down for the evening.
It’s a good place to rest, to restore in body and spirit so we can face everyday life with renewed courage and hope.
Where is your favorite place to rest? xo
I imagine your farm is a great place to rest. Like you say it isn’t quiet but you can gain peace Krista. I feel peaceful looking at the pictures of the gum trees. I find rest at home.
Home is such a precious place to be, isn’t it, @wanderingsheila:disqus ? 🙂 I LOVE coming home. 🙂
I am looking into getting a kayak that I will store down by the lake close to work. In the nice weather I hope to paddle along the shores and restore my soul.
What a fantastic idea, @disqus_2LQ5qLN5aY:disqus !! You will have so much fun. 🙂
It looks SO peaceful!!!!!!! My favorite place to rest is in our sunroom.
A sunroom sounds exquisitely wonderful, @AndiPerullo:disqus 🙂
Everything is so green and beautiful! Gorgeous photos.
Thank you, @disqus_v9uRgGTGfe:disqus 🙂 We are basking in it. 🙂
I love to relax at home, gazing at the mountains 🙂
That sounds so lovely, Tandy. 🙂 The mountains are very soothing to me too.
It certainly is very beautiful and your images are very soothing to look at. It seems it’s a very restorative place to be xx
Restorative is the right word, Hotly Spiced. 🙂 It does my heart good. 🙂
Our back yard is our favourite together time to relax, enjoy the shade and breeze, watch the chickens roam, the dog play and the cat sit nearby. I also love my workstation and spend a lot of time looking out the window (inspiration where are you). The window catches the prevailing breezes from the ocean and I can see the wind in the trees and all the action of our street. I have the radio on Triple J sometimes (a habit I picked up from our once teenage children) but mostly it is just myself and my thoughts, and yours too of course – via your blog.:)
Your backyard sounds so great, @budgetjan:disqus 🙂 A marvy mix of entertainment and utter relaxation. 🙂
Ohhh, that is one peaceful spot, and Autumn sunshine is such a nice thing to “bask” in 🙂 My favorite spot is along the sea, on my morning walk when no one is around, clears the body and soul! bon weekend dear Krista 🙂
A morning walk along the sea sounds so wonderful, @TuulaR:disqus 🙂 I’m so glad you have that time just for you. xo
I feel more relaxed just looking at your pictures. I love to get outside and breathe the fresh air, it always does wonders.
Fresh air IS an amazing tonic, @breannemosher:disqus 🙂
Such a wonderful place to find peace, I find at the moment that a walk on the beach can help restore me. 🙂
Oh yes, @LindyLouMac:disqus 🙂 The beach does that for me as well. 🙂
Every time I see pictures of your glorious property, I feel like I have been there. Its just gorgeous. 🙂 My fav place to rest, anywhere near water, something about the sound of water moving, be it the beach or a river is so rejuvenating for my little soul. Wishing you a wonderful fun filled week sweet lady. xo
Yes, yes, Anna, there must be water of some kind. 🙂 The sound, the feel, the reflections, it’s all wondrous. 🙂
Yes, the autumn sun is a goddess. She’s quietly beautiful. Gorgeous photos, Krista. I would say my favorite place to rest is anywhere near water (lake, ocean, or river). But your farm looks just so serene…I’m sure I’d find peace there as well. xo
A goddess of autumn sunshine – that makes me smile, @Gamine13:disqus 🙂
It does indeed look like a wonderful place to rest. Lovely photos.
