As I walked through the woods in Italy with my friend Maddalena, I could hardly believe my eyes at the thousands of wild Cyclamen carpeting the forest floor.
I loved their delicate blossoms pushing up through layers of sharp pine needles, looking so cheery and sprightly against the sea of brown leaves.
They are my happy thoughts as I rest today, taking naps, sipping coffee, and sitting quietly in the sunshine.
What is bringing you joy today?
These remind me of wild sweet peas that grow all around in the forest on Vancouver Island. I walked with my friends and saw many more treasures that day including a pileated woodpecker.
Oh that would be so beautiful, Val. I love sweet peas so much!
It looks almost like an array of butterflies! I’d almost be afraid to walk over them! So gorgeous.
You’re right, Joanne! I wondered what they reminded me of and you hit it bang on. 🙂
oh how beautiful! you deserve this, dear friend. this serenity and achey loveliness. <3 i'm so glad you are experiencing this.
Thank you so much, dear Rain. 🙂 I’m sick with the flu and this is the perfect place to recuperate.
so pretty
Thank you! 🙂
@Joanne They do look like an ethereal cloud of butterflies. Perhaps they are waiting for just the right moment to take flight in a magical flurry.

I would love to see them take flight! 🙂
What a lovely carpet! At the moment I’m enjoying the sound of pouring rain outside on Freiburg’s mosaic-ed streets =)
Oh that sounds lovely too, Andrea. 🙂 I think you must’ve sent it my way because it’s POURING in Italy today. 🙂
Wow! The cyclamen, quite rare for us yet in such abundant splendor there… reminds me of my first Christmas in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico where the pointsettas (nochebuenas) were plenteous and as tall as us on all the pathways… wild and glorious! Such Christmas splendor.
I was in my garden today after ladies’ tea, harvesting carrots, cabbage, brussel sprouts, colrabi, beets, beans and broccoli. Now the work of cleaning and processing…
a happy day, animals crunching hay, dogs lazing in the glorious sun.
Oh, your day sounds perfectly wonderful, Susan! 🙂 I’ve started compiling a list of all the things I want to plant when I get to Australia. I’m so excited that it will be spring when I get there! 🙂
Yay! I know the feeling having just come back from South Africa where it is Spring there and my daughter is planting veggie seeds and bugambilia plants. Such joy ! and then to see the Creator of it all bless and bring make it grow!
May His great joy be your healing strength dear Krista.
They always look shy to me, with their heads down, but so pretty!
My happy thought is about the lovely people I have been meeting of late.
Lovely people make a life SO wonderful, don’t they?
So pretty! I love those spring flowers.
Cheers,
Rosa
Me too, Rosa 🙂
Wow..they look like a slew of purple and lavender butterflies fluttering along the ground. I’ve never seen anything like it!
