It has been storming gloriously through the night and my formerly parched world is now soggy and muddy and marvelous. 🙂
This week I’ve been drawn over and over again to photos from past trips, my recent bout of pain diminishing as I linger over beautiful images of amazing places. It has been deeply satisfying and inspiring, so I thought I’d take you with me today on a hopscotch tour of lovely places with the hope that it cheers your heart as much as it has mine.
Let’s start with an early Spring morning breakfast in Capri, Italy. We’ll sit in a sunny courtyard overlooking the sea as we dine on freshly baked croissants and sip the creamiest of lattes as we let the sunshine warm us to our bones.
Duly fortified we’ll spend a beautiful morning meandering through the steep and narrow streets of this amazing place, admiring courtyard gardens and vine-covered terraces.
For lunch let’s pack a picnic basket full of plump grapes, artisan cheeses, home-cured meats, and the nicest bread we can find and head to Albania.
We’ll choose a sunny spot on the wildflower-covered banks of a turquoise river, noticing an overgrown gun turret on a nearby hill and give thanks that it’s no longer needed.
After a snooze in the sunshine we’ll mosey over to Amsterdam for a stroll through the verdant lusciousness of Vondel Park.
We will feed ducks and sit on shady benches and find an open-air cafe where we can rest awhile and watch the world go by.
Then we’ll amble home and tuck into plates piled high with homemade pasta and settle in for a good visit over a great bottle of wine. If you could spend a day out anywhere, what would you like to do?
Yes you know I would be hot on your heels to be the first to share in these experiences with you Krista.
That would be absolutely brilliant, Val. 🙂 I would LOVE to travel with you. 🙂 xo
Ha! I have been looking through old photos and remembering and wanting to take off again as well (Thanks for visiting Tuscany with me). Thank you for including us on your little world romp. I keep on thinking about Italy lately and Morocco. Aren’t we so privileged to have been able to travel in the past and again in the future? I feel very thankful for that.
How funny that we’ve both been up to the same thing, @budgetjan:disqus 🙂 Yes, we are so very, very privileged to have these photos and memories. I too feel very thankful. 🙂 xo
Beautiful, beautiful photos Krista!! I always look forward to your travel shots to take me away… if even just for a few moments. Here’s hoping your feeling better!
Thank you so much, @kimlivlife:disqus 🙂 I’m delighted to know I’ve given you a little escape today. 🙂
Sounds just lovely Krista. I think I would pick somewhere new to explore, like Prague as I’d love to go there.
Oh yes, @wanderingsheila:disqus , Prague would be an amazing place to wander for a day. 🙂
The joy of armchair travel, but it makes me yearn to travel again myself, meanwhile loved sharing your travels this morning.
I’m glad you enjoyed it, @LindyLouMac:disqus . 🙂 It has me itching to travel again too. 🙂
oh dear! so many places, so little time. and just a day would not be enough! i’ve never been to capri – that would be a good place to start!
happy rest of the weekend!

Capri would be a marvelous start, Paradis 🙂
Beautiful photos and tale, Krista…. that is a very good question… I really don’t know… maybe Tuscany, or maybe Vietnam…. no, what about the clear waters of Vanuatu?!
Thank you, @lizposmyk:disqus 🙂 I love all of those ideas!! Vanuatu would be my favorite at the moment. 🙂 I’d love a real escape far, far away from technology. 🙂
Havana, Prague or Salzburg – can’t decide. Lovely photos.
Ohhh, I would love all of those too, @OrgasmicChef:disqus 🙂 Especially Havana – that would be amazing. 🙂
Now that’s what I call taking a stroll, how beautiful. I’d have to say first place I’d head if I could go anywhere would be to my Mums house in Melbourne to sit and share a cuppa with her in her kitchen, then to hit the ‘op’ shops and home for a movie. She is the one I miss the most, and the one I wish could come to visit. xxx
That sounds so wonderful, Lisa, so comforting and homey and good. XO
Just a day? That’s a bit of a challenge, Krista!
Hmmm. I think I’ll go for Bellagio on Lago di Como. We stayed in Como, and a stomach bug confined us to the hotel and prevented any further exploration of the lake.
or maybe Lake Orta, because I recall your pictures from there,
or perhaps Ullensvang on the Hardangerfiord in Norway,
but then, if travel must take place in the same day, Bradley’s Head overlooking the activity on Sydney Harbour will be just the ticket.
All of those sound incredible, @Kayrpea61:disqus 🙂 And I would go to Lake Como because I haven’t been there yet! 🙂
beautiful pics, if I could go anyway I love to spend the day somewhere in Spain by the water, enjoying the people and eating the food.
I have not been to Spain yet, @disqus_Jw8DFomFS9:disqus , but would really love to one day. 🙂
I would spend my day doing just what you enjoy doing…eating, meandering and relaxing. Love discovering food and culture.
So glad everything is going well for you!
“eating, meandering and relaxing” – that does sound exquisite, doesn’t it, Velva? 🙂
Can I go along with you on your ideal day adventures? They sound lovely!
I would absolutely LOVE that, @joanneeatswellwithothers:disqus 🙂 We could pack an amazing picnic and spend the day adventuring. 🙂
It has been many years since I’ve been to Capri. I think I would enjoy you showing me all those back alleys less frequented by all the tourists.
I admit they were my favorite part of Capri, @karenbackroadjournal:disqus I felt I could breathe there and really take things in. 🙂
If I could spend a day anywhere it would be either in London walking around and stopping in every pub or so or Charleston, SC biking along the peninsula and taking in the sweet salty air. I love it there.
